Spiritual ecology suggests the necessity of embracing science without inherent materialism. But must we regress centuries of industrial, social, and scientific progress? Is there a world where we can advance scientifically while nurturing faith and spirit? Are these domains truly incompatible, or can we unite them for the greater good? May these words from our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) resonate in our hearts, reminding us to live in praise not only of the omnipresent Most High but also in awe of the ever-present Divinity around us. Let us also recognize the efforts and blessings of many great and small beings contributing to this beautiful world.

“Without water, many beings would die. Without trees, without the ocean, how do we live? These are super beings also, not just the stars or comets. Not just the Moon, not just the Sun. We are living in the grace of a super being called the Earth. That’s why the aboriginal people they call her ‘Mother Earth,’ and very respectfully because they can see it. Sometimes, they can communicate also with the Earth’s spirit or with the mountain. So the mountains can talk to you. The trees will tell you. So, walk the Earth with awe and respect. Look at the trees with love and reverence. Touch the plant with gratitude and admiration. Everything around us is from the Divine and is a part of the Divine, not just human beings, not just animals. Be reverent with all things.”

The Kogi people of the Amazon region exemplify the indigenous traditions referenced by Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan). They serve as a modern-day example of a community deeply rooted in their ancestral traditions. In November 2023, they delivered an urgent message from Mother Earth, with whom they maintain a profound connection through communion.

“I am the Mother. I am in the heart of the Universe. Throughout all of time, I have never suffered from such heat or exhaustion. I have endured for the last thousand years. Since that time, my natural connection points, my rivers, reservoirs and internal waterways across all continents have been obstructed and are full of pollution. I cannot cleanse or recuperate. In December of 2023, I will start to rise and move and turn, sending this message out to all my children around the world. The storms, the earthquakes, the hurricanes and the rise of the ocean will come. If the governments, the sultans, the princes, presidents and kings of the world do not listen and act, in two years’ time, only 30% of the Earth will remain.”
